I'm the person who originally submitted this anecdote. I'm now working full time, with full benefits. In the film industry. I didn't use any connections, references, family, etc. I saw a posting, replied, waited, got the interview and landed the job.
If you're reading this then you have to believe that you can make it too. Really.
Sometimes good things happen.
